Since 2002/2003 the Rigorosenstudium Medizin O 201 has been phased out as a field of study and registration is no longer possible.
It is divided into three phases and lasts twelve semesters. According to § 2 of the Bundesgesetz über die Studienrichtung Medizin, BGBl.Nr. 123/1973 (Federal Act on the Study of Medicine), the title Dr.med.univ. is conferred on graduates of the Rigorosenstudium Medizin O 201 program. Further details can be found in the curriculum and are communicated to the respective graduates in the Confirmation of Award letter and (since 2004) in the appendix to the letter.
