The scientific theme of MOLMED encompasses inflammatory diseases, metabolic disorders and cancer, i.e. highly relevant areas for medical research and patient care.
The faculty of MOLMED currently consists of 31 researchers of whom the majority has a clinical background. They have devoted themselves with enthusiasm to further advancing the already established paths of doctoral education at the Medical University of Graz by providing comprehensive insight into the many molecular aspects of diseases, including pathogenesis, diagnostic paths and novel therapeutic targets.
Accordingly, students receive in-depth training in the exploration of the molecular mechanisms and cellular functions involved in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases, cancer, vascular dysfunction, metabolic conditions or adverse events during pregnancy. In addition, students are introduced to a wide range of diagnostic procedures, novel therapeutic strategies, and areas where further basic research is needed to fulfill unmet clinical demands.
