Core duties and responsibilities:
- Undertake academic research and develop projects
- Provide guidance and training to less experienced members of the research group
- Develop, refine, and troubleshoot scientific techniques
- Represent the research group at external meetings and conferences
- Participate in the development and writing of manuscripts and grant proposals
- Participation in the teaching activities of the Division of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
Successful candidates must have the following qualifications:
- A degree (min. Master’s level) in natural sciences, engineering, medicine or a related discipline as well as a completed doctoral/PhD program at the time of starting the position
- Experience with experimental design and data analysis in cellular and/or circuit neuroscience
- Experience with multi-photon and functional calcium imaging techniques
- Working knowledge of a programming language, preferably Python
- Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Excellent command of the English language (Language proficiency at C1 level) as well as knowledge of the German language
The ideal candidate has the following profile:
- Experience with the design and analysis of molecular-genetic and behavioral experiments, preferably in the model organism Drosophila melanogaster
- Project management skills, particularly regarding the documentation of experiments and data analyses
- Experience with patch-clamp electrophysiology
- An ability to work both independently and as part of a research team
