Research lab manager position in host-pathogen interaction (research group Prof. Subhra K. Biswas)

Core duties and responsibilities:

  • A research lab manager position is available in the newly established Host Immune-Fungal Pathogen Interactions research group (Prof. Subhra K. Biswas; double affiliated: Division of Infectious Disease at the Medical University of Graz, Ignaz Semmelweis Institut)
  • Coordination and organization of research lab, Active engagement and contribution to the research projects, assistance in the onboarding and training of new lab members


Successful candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • Graduate in biological sciences (Bsc or higher)
  • Longstanding expertise in managing a research lab (e.g. ordering/receiving/stock-keeping of reagents, standardization of lab protocols, observation of safety procedures)
  • Research expertise in immunology (especially in Innate immunity).
  • Expertise in animal and human cell cultures (including isolation of immune cells from tissues or blood).
  • Expertise in molecular and immune techniques (e.g. qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunoblots)
  • Good knowledge of English (language level B2)


The ideal candidate has the following profile:

  • Experience in working with human blood or tissue samples; Isolation, sorting of immune subsets, Expertise in high-dimensional flow cytometry and sorting (e.g. Symphony, Aria, Cytek), Expertise in preclinical mice models of infection or ex vivo infection of human cells.
  • Evidence of productivity as indicated by peer-reviewed publication(s); Team player who is willing to help other lab members and Lab Head in smooth execution of lab projects.

Classification in employment group IIIb according to the collective agreement for university employees.


We offer a gross annual salary of EUR 34.441,40 on a full-time basis in accordance with the collective agreement. Previous periods of service can lead to a higher basic salary.
