Internist and nephrologist Alexander Rosenkranz studied medicine in Vienna, after which he was Assistant Professor at the Institute of Immunology at the University of Vienna. He started his clinical training in the Department of Internal Medicine at his alma mater and completed his internal medicine and nephrology residency at the Medical University of Innsbruck. He conducted research at Harvard Medical School from 1996 to 1998, and he completed his habilitation in 2001. In 2011 Rosenkranz was appointed University Professor of Internal Medicine with a focus on nephrology at Med Uni Graz, where he has been head of the Division of Nephrology ever since. He was also chosen to be head of the Department of Internal Medicine in 2021. In the same year, he was appointed president of the Austrian Society of Internal Medicine as well as a member of the Supreme Medical Council (OSR).
